MOTS-cMetabolic Pathway Peptides

Overview

MOTS-c (Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the 12S rRNA-c) is a 16-amino acid peptide whose coding sequence lies within the mitochondrial genome rather than nuclear DNA. It belongs to the mitochondrial-derived peptide class and is supplied as a lyophilized powder.

In cultured cells the peptide interacts with the folate one-carbon cycle, and AICAR accumulation coincides with AMPK phosphorylation. Under metabolic stress it translocates to the nucleus, where it associates with Nrf2-dependent antioxidant response elements. Each vial contains 40 mg of peptide.

Mechanism of Action

Interacts with the folate one-carbon cycle in vitro, with associated AICAR accumulation and AMPK phosphorylation. Under metabolic stress the peptide localizes to the nucleus and associates with antioxidant response elements.
