Kisspeptin is a KISS1 gene-derived peptide and the endogenous ligand of KISS1R (GPR54), a Gq-coupled receptor expressed on GnRH neurons; supplied as 5mg of lyophilized powder.

KisspeptinNeuropeptides

Overview

Kisspeptin is the peptide product of the KISS1 gene, processed from a 145-residue precursor into shorter C-terminally amidated fragments that share a common receptor-binding motif. All fragments terminate in the same RF-amide sequence, the structural element recognized by the receptor.

KISS1R (formerly GPR54) is a class A G protein-coupled receptor that signals through Gq/11 and phospholipase C. In cell lines expressing the receptor, kisspeptin binding generates inositol trisphosphate and diacylglycerol and elevates intracellular calcium. The material is supplied as a lyophilized powder.

Mechanism of Action

Binds KISS1R (GPR54), a Gq/11-coupled receptor, activating phospholipase C signaling and intracellular calcium mobilization in receptor-expressing cells; KISS1R is expressed on GnRH neurons.
