KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide fragment (Lys-Pro-Val) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, a 13-residue peptide hormone; it is supplied as a lyophilized powder in a 10 mg vial.

KPVMatrix & Growth-Factor Peptides

Overview

KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a three-residue peptide corresponding to residues 11-13 of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. The central proline restricts backbone conformation and contributes to resistance against peptidase cleavage. It is supplied as a lyophilized white powder.

In cultured epithelial cells the tripeptide enters through the PepT1 di- and tripeptide transporter and attenuates NF-kB nuclear translocation, with correspondingly lower transcript levels of TNF-alpha, interleukin-1 beta, and interleukin-6. Activity in these assays occurs independently of melanocortin receptor binding. Each vial contains 10 mg.

Mechanism of Action

Enters cultured epithelial cells via the PepT1 di- and tripeptide transporter and attenuates NF-kB nuclear translocation, lowering transcript levels of TNF-alpha, interleukin-1 beta, and interleukin-6 independently of melanocortin receptors.
