LL-37 is a 37-amino acid cathelicidin-family peptide cleaved from the hCAP-18 precursor by proteinase-3, forming an amphipathic alpha-helix; supplied as 5mg of lyophilized powder.

LL-37Immune & Cellular Peptides

Overview

LL-37 is the cathelicidin peptide encoded by the CAMP gene, released by proteolytic cleavage of the hCAP-18 precursor. Its 37 residues fold into an amphipathic alpha-helix in which cationic and hydrophobic faces occupy opposite sides of the helix, giving the molecule affinity for anionic lipid bilayers.

In vitro, the peptide inserts into negatively charged model membranes and binds lipopolysaccharide, and it is an agonist at the formyl peptide receptor FPRL1 (FPR2). The material is supplied as a lyophilized powder soluble in aqueous buffer.

Mechanism of Action

Inserts into anionic lipid bilayers via its amphipathic helix, binds lipopolysaccharide, and acts as an agonist at the formyl peptide receptor FPRL1 (FPR2) in cultured cells.
