NAD+Immune & Cellular Peptides

Overview

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a dinucleotide coenzyme consisting of a nicotinamide mononucleotide unit and an adenosine monophosphate unit joined by a pyrophosphate linkage. Its molecular formula is C21H27N7O14P2, with a molecular weight of approximately 663.4 g/mol. The molecule exists in an oxidized form, NAD+, and a reduced form, NADH, which differ by a hydride at the C4 position of the nicotinamide ring.

NAD+ is a substrate for the sirtuin family of deacetylases (SIRT1-7) and for poly-ADP-ribose polymerase enzymes, and an electron carrier in oxidoreductase reactions. It is supplied as a lyophilized powder in a 500 mg vial.

Mechanism of Action

NAD+ is the oxidized member of the NAD+/NADH redox couple, accepting a hydride at the nicotinamide C4 position in oxidoreductase reactions, and is a substrate for sirtuin and PARP enzymes.
