That single terminal change alters its relative affinity profile across the melanocortin receptor family.
In receptor-binding assays the peptide is an agonist at MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R, with notable affinity at MC3R and MC4R, both Gs-coupled receptors that signal through adenylate cyclase and cyclic AMP. PT-141 is supplied as a lyophilized powder in a 10 mg vial.
